Hello! I’m Nicole King, a registered mental health counseling intern and my areas of focus in counseling are grief, trauma and aging related concerns.

I have a relaxed approach to my work with clients and offer those I work with a safe place to explore relational struggles, grief, trauma and various forms of loss.

My academic background includes a master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Stetson University in Deland, Florida.

I’m currently pursuing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University.

How can I help you?

Coming to therapy is brave and a courageous first step toward figuring out what’s next. I prefer a strengths-based approach to counseling and work from a trauma informed lens. It is my goal to create an environment in the therapy room that feels safe, collaborative, and free from judgement.

In our work together, I will collaborate with you to develop a plan of care that best suits your needs. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities that include cognitive behavioral therapy, client- centered therapy and various mindfulness practices to support growth and healing for you.

My philosophy on mental health

It is my honor to help you walk towards a healthier and more fulfilling life. I believe mental health is as important as physical health and my goal is to support you in discovering a new way to move through the world that is healthy, happy and fulfilling.

How Do I Practice Self-Compassion:

The practice of self-compassion is an ongoing practice that I incorporate in my daily life. I prioritize self-care by enjoying the outdoors and I spend much of my free time visiting the mountains of North Carolina. I enjoy reading and I am a lifelong learner, embracing my quest to acquire new knowledge, gain new experiences and explore the world around me with an open mind.

Fun Facts!

I am a native Floridian and spent much of my childhood on the Space Coast watching shuttle and rocket launches. I am a dog mom to a 200lb mastiff named Molly and a rescue pup named Atom. Would you believe that I once worked as an alligator educator? I handled alligators and trained large birds for educational programs in the Osceola County area. While that was fun, I love the work that I do as a therapist now!
